EIFDDA and partners FBOs have observed World Interfaith Harmony Week

Youth Peace and Harmony Conference
Ethiopia Interfaith Forum for Development Dialogue and Action (EIFDDA) awarded the first prize winner of the HM King Abdullah II of Jordan Awards for @World Interfaith Harmony Week 2023, the official UN observance in the 1st week of February.

The award followed a number of events the EIFDDA hosted in February to commemorate World Interfaith Harmony Week. More than 500 young people of all faiths and non-faith gathered on February 4 in DebreZeit City, Ethiopia, to observe World Interfaith Harmony Week. Papers on the influence of religion on promoting peace and the use of interfaith youths as peacemakers in their communities were delivered by the panel of young people. A decision was made to start Peace Clubs in local churches and schools to promote ongoing young discourse and activities to enhance their skills.


Currently, EIFDDA is working on the Joint Initiative for Strategic Religious Action (JISRA) program. JISRA aims to have peaceful and just societies where all enjoy Freedom of Religion and Belief. Through joint interventions, we are working towards a long-term impact of having resilient and inclusive communities in which religious actors are sustainable advocates of FoRB and interfaith peace. Interfaith Peace and Harmony Dialogue
on February 3rd, 2023, EIFDDA hosted a one-day “Interreligious Peace and Harmony Dialogue” with over 40 faith and traditional belief leaders from Orthodox, Muslim, Protestant, Catholic, and traditional faiths (Aba Gedas). These leaders pledged to work together in Harmony to resolve community conflicts and build long-term peace in their communities.
